Hey ya'll! I hope everyone is enjoying their day. I'm starting a new series on SA which deals all about hair, natural hair that is. You know the tip and tricks to keeping a mane moisturized, along with using the tools of the trade. Thanks to everyone submitted questions on my social platforms, all of your questions will be answered throughout this series. What's the first part to ask? The ins and outs of Danie's Hair. Lets get t crackin:

When did you go natural?
I started my natural hair journey September of 2009, which tons of research about what it meant to go natural and a brief period of self-exploration to see if this would be the right decision for me.

What's your transition period and BC?
Mt transition period lasted about 6 months, from October 2009- March 2010 at which then I Big Chopped March 13, 2010. During my transition period, I managed my hair by doing bantu knots, rod sets and braid outs. My relaxed hair was about 9 or 10 inches at the time.

As of now, how long have you been natural? How long is your hair?
I've been natural for about 3 and a half years. My hair measures around 15 inches.

What is your hair type?
My hair texture has a wirey pattern that is looser at the nape of my neck, super kinky right about there, and loose everywhere else. If I had to categorize it, I'd say it was 4b/4c.

Whats your go-to wash and condition routine?
Because the products I use are all natural and do not cause a ton of buildup on my scalp, I tend to only shampoo my hair about once a month. However, I do co-wash every other week. Both my shampoo and co-wash routines invovle methods by awesome Youtubers India of My Natural Sistas and Naptural85. The products are varied based on my own hair type.

Shampoo: Giovanni's Smooth as Silk Deeper Moisture Shampoo
Conditioner: Treseme Naturals or whatever I have on hand
Leave-In/Moisture Mix: A mix of Giovanni Direct Leave-in, Oils and Aloe Vera Juice
Styling: A combination of my Moisture Mix and Aloe Vera Gel, although I do try different styling products from time to time, this is my go-to combo.

The Moisture Mix is an adaption from the recipe first seen by Youtuber KimmeyTube
2 tbsp Knot Today Leave-In Conditioner
2 tbsp aloe vera juice
2 tsp jojoba oil
2 tsp castor oil

How do you keep your hair moisturized?
I spray water daily, sealing with oil. And I use my moisture mix about every other day

What is your most absolute favorite product to use?
My absolute favorite product definitely has to be Giavonni Direct Leave-In Conditioner. It's water based so there is no build up in my hair and versatile enough to where I can mix with other items (like my moisture mix above)

Do you have a favorite Style?
Definitely A Braid Out, I love the definitely it give my hair along with the amount of stretch.

What about protective style?
Marely Twists. They are super easy to install, last a long time, an look really natural. I also am a fan of buns, because they are the easiest to achieve when I'm short on time.

Did I miss anything? Let me know in the comments below and I'll be sure to include it in the next portion of the series.

Until next time!
